Light: Abigail's Virtual Gallery

I am Abigail Prisha Prasad, a 17-year-old emerging artist who discovered my passion for art during the pandemic. I work across multiple mediums, drawing inspiration from nature, faith, travel, light, and ordinary life. I am particularly drawn to Van Gogh’s use of colour and the way the Old Masters approached and treated light in their work.

View my virtual gallery of three artworks inspired by memories with my dogs, alongside a painting about a volcano.

“Beautiful”

Oil on Canvas, 18 × 24 in, 2025

This painting captures a long-extinct volcano in Mauritius. For me, volcanoes also hold a sense of renewal, and I used the colours to give that feeling. If I had not told you it was a volcano, maybe you wouldn’t have guessed otherwise and assumed it to be a simple mountainous landscape. I really like to hide these details, so what’s under the surface becomes apparent upon close observation.

“Where’s the Squirrel?”

Watercolour & Coloured Pencil on Paper, 36 × 48 cm, 2025

This is my dog, Joyo. He loves squirrels, and I love to watch him when he looks for one. I love that he has a fixed schedule and enjoys the same thing every day with the same intensity. In this painting, I have tried to bring out the wonder and curiosity in his eyes when he sniffs a squirrel.

“Where We Meet”

Watercolour & Coloured Pencil on A3 Paper, 2026

This is a portrait of me and Goldy. He likes to sit beside me when I draw. I think he has inspired a lot of my work. In the times we have sat together, a lot of ideas have come to mind, and we have created many projects together. I do think he has shaped them in a way, by creating a space where I can be calm for longer, or take breaks with him when we need one.

I like to create art on the themes of connection, joy, and wonder. Art reminds me to slow down, appreciate my surroundings, and notice details I would otherwise not. Through my art, I like the viewers to feel the same.
